I was reluctant to go out on sunday, as it was cloudy and about to rain.Yet i went out to a nearby gokhale institute.The toilet sketch is done because that was the only thing i could paint while sitting under covered

verandah,when it rained.The other sketch is of a porch of the institute.

black and white sketching.

i tried various pens in my bhutan trip.The chiselled black marker was the best,i could use it for lines and mass fillings too.It takes less time to render too.

these are done this sunday.i have done paintings of the house earlier too,but i find them different every time.the stone arches are challenge.

posting some painterly sketches done in Bhutan.Actually i had decided to sketch only in entire tour, but i did attept to paint some scenes with a single brush and schoolbox watercolours i was carrying.Since the size of my pads was small it was possible!

taktsang monastary sketches.

It is a 3 hours trek to this beautiful monastry perched on the cliff.The climb was very difficult and to take a break i was sketching when i got tired.I have many such sketches as i had never treked so much in my life!

the angle of vision also kept changing,it was fun.

bhutan visit

The monasteries in bhutan are mostly white washed structures with an red band running horizontaly,which is a lucky charm band as they call it.it was in a way easy to leave paperwhite as walls ,but showing tonal values in white was a challenge.The background also becomes equally important in white structures.I am posting some here.

bhutan sketches 2

bhutan has a natural setting of mountain ranges.The city of Thimpu and Paro both are situated in the valley.It gives natural backdrop of the mountain ranges to the entire city.it is difficult to explain in words but i am posting a photo of paro airport,one with the most stunning background.some sketch paintings too are posted.enjoy !!

bhutan sketches 1

I had a wonderful trip to bhutan,a buddhist country.Its clean, beautiful and very safe country. Its a kingdom, hence has a royal feel to it.I will be posting some watercolor sketches i did in my visit in the coming week.I have done about 100 sketches ,some black and white and some colored.I have written on sketches so that i dont have to write much in text!!
